Today, we're still getting goosebumps when we think of last season's Egg Bowl.

Good morning! There are a few things that take 30 seconds every morning—convincing yourself not to hit the snooze button one more time, making your way to the coffee machine and getting that first brew going, and watching the Diamond Dawgs lift the Governor's Cup last night.

This morning just got a little bit easier, y'all.

🔼 Clutch Pearl. Mississippi State baseball hoisted the Governor's Cup last night as the Dawgs picked up the 2-1 victory over Ole Miss. The pitching led the way for the Bulldogs in the midweek matchup as they picked up 10 strikeouts as a staff, allowing only four hits, and one earned run. Evan Siary was credited with his first victory of the year after he allowed a single hit in two complete innings.

Brock Tapper, Parker Stinnett, and Tyson Hardin entered down the stretch, as they worked the next 5.1 innings. They all held Ole Miss to one hit in their outings. KC Hunt struck out the two batters he faced in the eighth. Aaron Nixon picked up his second save of the year after striking out two of three batters in the ninth.

Luke Hancock and Hunter Hines provided the offense the Dawgs needed. Hunter Hines' double in the first inning gave the Bulldogs the lead early. Luke Hancock followed up a little later with an RBI double to extend the State lead to 2-0.

The Bulldogs are back in SEC play this weekend as they head to Knoxville to take on the Tennessee Volunteers. First pitch for Thursday's matchup is set for 6:00pm CT and will broadcast on the SEC Network.

🔼 Good As Gold. They're the heart and soul of Mississippi State athletics. They're the ones who give absolutely all they have to help the Dawgs Win Again. They're the student-athletes and coaches. Earlier this week at The Mill Conference Center, they all gathered together to celebrate another incredible year of State sports with the annual Maroon & White Night.

Leading the way was a double dip for Mississippi State basketball—men's coach Chris Jans and women's coach Sam Purcell were selected as Coaches of the Year. See a full list of winners, including Moment of the Year, Male and Female Athletes of the Year, and more.

🔼 Back To Back. Mississippi State women's golfer Julia Lopez Ramirez has been selected to represent the International Team for the second straight year in the 2023 Palmer Cup. The top six golfers from the final ranking from both the United States and International men and women are among the individuals selected to compete in the Palmer Cup.

The sophomore competed in the 2022 Arnold Palmer Cup last summer, delivering in some key moments to aid Team International to a 33-27 victory. In the opening round, the United States won the first two matches, but three demanding victories helped Team International settle in. One of those wins came from the duo of Julia Lopez Ramirez/Mateo Fernández de Oliveira when they halved the 18th hole to secure a 1-up victory they grabbed on 17.

🤔 BULLDOG TRIVIA

Caught in the moment. The 2022 Egg Bowl was voted as the Moment of the Year in this year's Maroon & White Night. And for good reason!

Behind a stellar defensive showing and a pair of clutch late scores, Mississippi State secured a 24-22 comeback victory over No. 20 Ole Miss to bring home the Golden Egg.

🎉 TRIVIA ANSWER

Answer: Randy Charlton

The denial of the potential game-tying try was fitting as the State defense put a stranglehold on Ole Miss all night, allowing just 331 yards of total offense with 99 of those coming on their final offensive series.

But just as it looked like the Dawgs might be wearing down on the defensive side, they came through again as Randy Charlton deflected a Rebel shovel pass on the crucial two-point conversion attempt, causing it to fall incomplete.

Have a great Wednesday, y'all.
