🔼 Fall Ball. Regular season softball doesn’t start until the spring, but that doesn’t mean you can’t catch a game (or eight) at Nusz Park later this fall!
Bulldog softball will be hosting eight exhibition games starting on September 15th in Starkville, with games going well into October. The first action of the fall will be in a doubleheader for the program against Wallace State CC and Jones College. Until then, it’s back to work.
🔼 Ready to Rock. Head coach Sam Purcell and the Bulldog women’s basketball team can now set their eyes on the prize after the schedule for the 2023-24 season was officially released. Luckily for State fans, the team opens up with four straight home games at The Hump.
The Bulldogs will play 15 non-conference games and 16 SEC opponents throughout the season. The non-conference schedule is highlighted by The Van Chancellor Classic where State will face off against Gonzaga, and their ACC/SEC Challenge matchup against Miami. In total, the Bulldogs will face off against nine 2023 NCAA tournament teams, seven of which will come from the SEC.
🔼 Leader On the Field. State quarterback Will Rogers entered his fourth and final season with the Bulldogs last Saturday, and it’s safe to say he started the season off on the right foot. His 227 yard, two touchdown performance is the kind of production the team can look to build on, but more importantly, his presence as a leader has never been more valuable.
🗣️ “My job as a quarterback is not just to throw for as many yards as I can, as many touchdowns as I can…I think my job as a quarterback is to really motivate the other 10 in the huddle.” - Will Rogers
🔼 More Fall Ball. Speaking of fall ball, Bulldog baseball announced its fall schedule that includes 13 intrasquad scrimmages, as well as two additional scrimmages against Louisiana Tech and UAB. The games will include a couple of Dawgs from the Cape League All-League Team, including the league’s home run leader, Hunter Hines.
