🔼 Big Plays Abound. Fans didn't have to wait long to find out what the "Showtime" Lebby had promised since Day 1 was all about. On only the third play from scrimmage, quarterback Blake Shapen launched a pass down the left sideline to a streaking Jordan Mosley for a 65-yard touchdown that marked the first points of Lebby's tenure at MSU. After all was said and done, the Bulldogs averaged 7.9 yards per play and were also able to maintain balance in doing so. The Bulldogs threw for 247 yards and three touchdowns while also chewing up 203 yards on the ground and three more scores.

🗣️ "We can be as explosive as we want to be if we just execute and do the things that we need to do. There's so many fun things that you can do in this offense.” - Blake Shapen

🔼 Sound Swinging. Bulldog women’s golf finished in third at the team’s season opener at the 2024 Carmel Cup. The best scorecard of the day belonged to Samantha Whateley who finished 2-under par, marking her third par or better round of her career. Julia Lopez Ramirez was one of six golfers in the field to finish under-par in the tournament, finishing just shy of an individual tournament win. State will be back in action on September 20, when they head to Franklin, Tennessee to compete in the Mason Rudolph Championship.

🔼 Good Sign. Bulldog cross country started the season by taking home second place at the City Auto Memphis Twilight XC Classic. State was led by sophomore Gabrielle Boulay, finishing third in the 5k with 17:47.82, shaving 45 seconds off her previous personal best, in addition to a career-high finish. In her collegiate debut, Morgan Grace Sheffield ran 18:05.41 finishing fifth. Both athletes led the pack for State for the entirety of the race.
