🔼 Ripe With Anticipation. State men’s basketball is drawing the attention of college basketball media minds as they have named a couple of Bulldogs to some honorable preseason awards.

Head coach Chris Jans was named as the SEC Preseason Coach of the Year by the Field of 68. Last season, Jans helped the Bulldogs to a single-season record amount of wins from a first year coach and an NCAA Tournament appearance.

Forward Tolu Smith picked up yet another preseason award as he was named to the SEC Preseason First-Team by Field of 68. That makes this Smith’s sixth preseason award alongside a 2023-24 Blue Ribbon Preseason All-American Second Team selection, SEC Preseason Player of the Year and other first and second team selections.

🔼 Volleydawgs Recap. On the opening night of SEC play the Volleydawgs came up short against Texas A&M in a 3-0 loss. Libero Lauren Myrick led the team in aces and digs, while Karli Schmidt contributed a team-high nine kills. Next up, the Bulldogs while face off against Alabama for their first home game of SEC play.

🔼 Future Foes. Bulldog softball officially announced the eight-series, 24-game schedule the team will go through for the 2024 season en route to the SEC Tournament. State will open up their conference schedule on the road on March 8th against in-state rival Ole Miss, and will round out the regular season when Georgia comes to town in early May.

🔼 Big League Rise. A trio of Diamond Dawgs are on the rise as the three currently sit inside the DIBaseball Top 100 Draft Prospects. Power hitter Hunter Hines is currently ranked No. 82, the blue-gloved Nate Dohm sits at No. 65 and Dakota Jordan is in the best position of the group with a ranking at No. 16.
