🔼 High Note. In a successful weekend at the Maroon and White Classic, the Volleydawgs came away 2-0 with a closing win against Abilene Christian.
After falling behind after the first set, the Bulldogs rallied to take three sets in a row for their seventh non-conference win of the season. Amina Shackelford and Zoe Gonzales were named to the All-Tournament Team. Shackelford notched 14 kills and six blocks while Gonzales provided 15 blocks and eight kills on the weekend
🔼 Strong Start. State women’s tennis stepped up in their season debut this weekend at the Debbie Southern Fall Classic and came away with nine total wins across both singles and doubles matches.
Day One saw the Bulldogs capture four victories including Dharani Niroshan and Ava Rath’s season-opening win in their first doubles match. On Day Two, State bested their win total of the previous day by one, with Jayna Clemens, Alexandra Mikhailuk, and Ava Rath all picking up wins in their singles matches.
🔼 Kicking and Scoring. Bulldog soccer capitalized on their highly anticipated SEC opener with a shutout win against Auburn under the lights on Friday night. State soccer improved to 1-0 in the SEC and 6-1-2 overall in front of the eighth highest attended game in Bulldog history.
In what was a defensive battle for for the entirety of the game, Haley McWhirter came up huge for the Bulldogs after slotting the ball into the back of the net from a beautiful through-pass from Aitana Martinez-Montoya for the game’s only goal with just 1:22 remaining in the game.
🔼 State To Sundays. In the NFL this Sunday, some of our former Bulldogs balled out to help lead their teams to victory.
🏈 Dak Prescott helped lead the Dallas Cowboys to a victory after completing 31 of 38 passes for 255 yards and two touchdowns.
🏈 Emmanuel Forbes, the Washington Commanders’ first round pick, nabbed the first interception of his career en route to a victory.
🏈 Chris Jones in his first game back with the Kansas City Chiefs picked right back up where he left off with a sack and a win for his team.
