📈 STOCK UP
🔼 Wave Of Wins. Bulldog volleyball picked up their third victory in as many days, as they took down the Grambling State Tigers in straight sets. A season-high 16 Bulldogs saw action in Sunday's contest, with nine Dawgs picking up kills. Kailin Newsome tallied her sixth game this season with double-digit kills, leading the team with 11, and Arissa Smith attacked efficiently, as she picked up seven kills on 11 swings.
🔼 First Of Fall. Sophomore Marshall Landry collected his first win of the fall on Sunday as Mississippi State men’s tennis closed out the final day of the SEC Challenge. Landry lost his first singles set but evened things up with a 6-4 win in the second and then outlasted the Auburn redshirt freshman in a super tiebreaker 1-0[8]. And although Sunday put a bow on the SEC Challenge, four more Bulldogs are set to begin their fall seasons at the ITF Fayetteville 15K in Arkansas starting on Monday.
🔼 Gridiron Battle. Mississippi State quarterback Blake Shapen completed 72 percent of his passes for 319 yards and two touchdowns, however, it wasn't enough as the Bulldogs ultimately fell 41-17 to Toledo at Davis Wade Stadium. Isaac Smith and Stone Blanton were standouts for the State defense. Smith had a team-high 15 tackles while Blanton had 11. Blanton also forced a fumble.
🔼 Running Hard. On Friday, Bulldog cross country took home an eighth-place finish at the Southern Showcase. The squad was led by sophomore Ramat Jimoh, finishing 13th and clocking 17:10.46 in the 5k. She dropped 41 seconds off her previous personal best, which she set at this race last season. Next up, the Bulldogs will hit the course at the Joe Piane – Notre Dame Invitational on October 4.
🔼 Weekend Wrap Up. State women's tennis team picked up a pair of singles wins to close out the final day of the Debbie Southern Furman Fall Classic. Jayna Clemens, Carolina Troiano and Alessia Tagliente all picked up a pair of singles victories during the three-day event. In total, the Bulldogs collected 10 total wins in the tournament (seven singles, three doubles) and are back in action next weekend for the ITA All-American Championships in Cary, North Carolina beginning on Saturday.
