🔼 Top Dawg. For the first time in his career with the Bulldogs, linebacker Jett Johnson was awarded the SEC Co-Defensive Player of the Week. Johnson filled the stat sheet Saturday night against Arizona with 11 tackles, one sack and two interceptions, all the while tying for the team lead in TFLs with two.

Johnson, en route to his first SEC defensive award, earned his eighth career double-digit tackle game and has already tied his career high for sacks in one season. Now established as one of the leader’s of the Bulldog defense, Johnson and the rest of the team prepare for their first SEC showdown of the year against the No. 14 LSU Tigers.

🔼 Kind Gesture. A couple of weeks ago, former Bulldog track star Marco Arop took home the gold in the 800m representing Team Canada. Arop, in a kind gesture, gave State’s track and field head coach, Chris Woods, with some hardware of his own. Arop gifted the medal as a form of appreciation for all Coach Woods had done to help him achieve one of his ultimate goals.

🔼 Same Ol’ Story. As Mississippi State women’s golf was teeing it up at the Annika Intercollegiate, last season’s SEC Player of the Year, Julia Lopez Ramirez was named to the an ANNIKA Award Preseason Watch List.

Last year, the Bulldog golfer was named as one of the finalists for the award. As one of State’s best returning players, Lopez Ramirez is looking to have another breakout season to capture the award given to the best female DI collegiate golfer.

🔼 Feeling Good. In his debut repping the Maroon and White for Bulldog tennis, Radomir Tomic picked up the opening round win in straight sets. The Bosnia and Herzegovina native captured the win, 6-1, 6-3 as State’s lone winner of the Champaign 15K.
