🔼 A Flipping Good Win. What a night it was in Starkville as the Bulldogs defeated Arizona in their first overtime game of the season.

The Bulldogs came out hot in the first quarter, putting up a quick 14 points thanks to a Tulu Griffin receiving touchdown and Woody marks rushing touchdown. From then on, it was a hard fought game as the two teams traded scores back and forth the rest of the night.

The clock struck zeroes, and the game was tied to send it into overtime, a first for each team this season. State started off with the ball, and on the opening possession, Jeffery Pittman took his lone reception of the night to the house. Following the score, the State defense stonewalled Arizona to pull off the victory to move to 2-0 in front of the White Out crowd.

🔼 Winner Winner. Mississippi State’s own Hunter Logan came home with the hardware in the Bulldogs’ season opener in the Visit Knoxville Collegiate. Logan carded an 11-under 199, a score that that for the fifth lowest score in program history, through the tournament’s thee days to win by one shot.

The Bulldogs as a team had a strong start with a third place finish, shooting 13-under par for the tournament. The team’s 827 collective score was the lowest of any season-opening score since the 1983 season.

🔼 Senior Day Dub. On Senior Day in front of the Maroon and White faithful, the Bulldogs took home a victory against ULM to improve to 5-1-2 on the season. Sophomore forward Maggie Wadsworth scored the game’s lone goal in the 49th minute on the Bulldogs 19 total shots in the game. It was the first loss of the season for State’s opponent as the team heads into SEC play.

🔼 VolleyDawgs. Bulldog volleyball headed into the Kennesaw State Invitational, and came away with a mixed bag of results this weekend. Friday’s match saw State overcome their first opponent of the tournament, Western Michigan, who up until Friday, had been undefeated.

On Saturday and Sunday, the Bulldogs fell against both opponents. Saturday’s matchup against the tournament hosts went the distance as the team fell just short, and Sunday’s match against Wake Forest saw the Bulldogs fall in straight sets. Following the Kennesaw State Invitational, State moved to 5-3, with just one tournament left before SEC play begins.

🔼 Defensive Delivery. Five takeaways, two crucial stops, and one win equals a defensive performance that these Bulldogs should remember throughout the rest of the season.

🎥 Watch the State defense come up with ‘THE Stop

The Bulldogs showed that they can get it done on both sides of the ball. State came up with four straight turnovers on the defense, including Jett Johnson’s interception that lead to one of four touchdowns on the night. This is one resilient defense the Bulldogs have on their hands.

🗣️ “They had every opportunity to throw in the towel or not chase the ball hard. We were on them all week about pursuit and sure enough, the game came down to one play and pursuit made all the difference in the world right there." - Head coach Zach Arnett
