Dear Ol’ State: 125 Seasons of Bulldog Football — Rockey Felker. Joel Coleman and Logan Lowery are celebrating 125 seasons of Bulldog football all season long, and recently caught up with former Mississippi State quarterback, head coach, assistant coach and administrator Rockey Felker to get his thoughts on his five daces in Starkville.

🔼 Half Dozen. Make that six straight wins for Mississippi State volleyball! The Bulldogs took down South Carolina is four sets in their SEC opener on Friday, pushing their record to 7-3 on the season. Rebecca Walk led the way with 10 assisted blocks, as the team set a season-high in blocks with 16. And on top of that, four Bulldogs registered double-digit kills — Karli Schmidt (17), Kailin Newsome (16), Amina Shackelford (11) and Arissa Smith (10).

🔼 Dawgs > Tigers. Mississippi State women’s soccer’s win streak extended to six matches on Sunday night, as the Bulldogs beat LSU 2-0 in Starkville. Ally Perry scored both goals for Mississippi State, which outshot the Tigers 22-1 in the contest. The Bulldogs also dominated in shots on goal (9-0) and corner kicks (12-0).

🔼 Bonded Together. Charlie Ewing was a sophomore on the Vanderbilt men’s golf team when Dusty Smith was hired as the the program’s top assistant coach back in 2012. Fast forward 12 years, and Smith and Ewing are the head coaches for Mississippi State men’s and women’s golf, respectively. The two teams have taken on the same bond as their head coaches as they head into The Blessings Invitational this week.

🔼 Bottom Of The Ninth. Professional baseball has all but wrapped up its regular season — here’s your chance to get one last regular season update on Diamond Dawgs playing in both minor league and Major League Baseball.

🔼 Brought The Fight. Mississippi State football had the task of going on the road to play No. 1 Texas on Saturday in the first matchup as SEC opponents for the two teams, falling 35-13 to the Longhorns. The Bulldogs were within one possession into the third quarter in Austin, but a pair of late Texas touchdowns stretched the lead. Michael Van Buren Jr. made his first career start at quarterback for the Bulldogs, throwing for 144 yards and scoring once with his legs. Johnnie Daniels and Davon Booth combined for 134 yards on the ground.
