🔼 No Surprise Here. Fresh off the heels of Avery Weed's victory at the Mason Rudolph Championship, the sophomore Bulldog women’s golfer was named the SEC Golfer of the Week. Weed earned her first individual victory at the collegiate level on Sunday after finishing 13-under par. She became just the 14th golfer in program history to win an individual title after tying for the fourth-best tournament score in program history. Weed and the Bulldogs will be back in action on September 30 for the Blessings Collegiate Invitational.

🔼 Moving On. The top doubles team in collegiate tennis willed their way to victory in the first round of the main draw at the ITA All-American Championships. Competing in their first doubles match of the tournament, Mississippi State's No. 1 ranked pair of Petar Jovanovic and Benito Sanchez Martinez topped Wake Forest's 49th-ranked tandem in three sets to move on to the second round of the main draw. Individually, Jovanovic made his singles debut in Tulsa on Wednesday but fell to the nation’s 53rd-ranked player in three sets.

🔼 Conference Clash. The No. 9-ranked Bulldog soccer team will hit the road to take on South Carolina for a top-25 SEC matchup. The crucial contest pits two of the SEC's unbeaten teams against one another, both sitting at 2-0-0 in conference play. Mississippi State (8-1-0) is riding high on a five-match win streak, while South Carolina remains undefeated on the season, holding four draws along the way. State will look to continue its display of dominant defense, having recorded eight shutouts in their first nine matches— a program-first achievement.

🔼 Settling In. Coming into last Saturday's contest against Florida, it was critical for Mississippi State to establish its presence on the ground, and one bright spot in the ground attack was Davon Booth. Putting together his best game yet in the Maroon and White, Booth rushed for 75 yards and found the endzone. The first-year Bulldog is letting his appreciation for MSU push him as he's shown significant on-field growth over his first four games. It's been a valuable learning process.

🗣️ "I got to thank [running backs coach Anthony Tucker. To learn the whole offense, we have to know what the offensive line is doing at all times, and he is making sure we know that. It's helped me learn the blocking schemes and the correct holes to hit." - Davon Booth

🔼 From State to Sundays. The Bulldogs have produced some of the NFL's best defensive linemen in recent years and this season is no different. This past week, MSU defensive linemen tallied 13 tackles, five tackles for loss, four sacks and five quarterback hurries.

🏈 Preston Smith produced a pair of sacks in the Green Bay Packers' 30-14 win at the Tennessee Titans to push his career sack total to 68. Smith is back playing defensive end this season, the same position he flourished for the Bulldogs from 2011-14.

🏈 Jeffery Simmons earned the second-highest defensive grade for the Titans in Week 3. Simmons finished with four tackles and a sack and has the best run defense grade on the team this season.

🏈 Two more State defensive standouts were making plays for the New Orleans Saints as Willie Gay Jr. had four solo tackles and recovered a fumble while J.T. Gray blocked a punt.
