🔼 1-0. Mississippi State used a second-half explosion to cruise to a 34-17 win in the season opener over Southern Miss on Saturday. The Bulldogs outscored the Golden Eagles 21-0 in the third quarter en route to securing the win, using a strong running game to sink Southern Miss. Running backs Fluff Bothwell and Davon Booth combined for three touchdowns on the day, while the MSU RB room combined to post 188 rushing yards. Meanwhile, QB Blake Shapen looked sharp in his return from a season-ending injury last year, going 26-of-34 for 270 yards and a TD.

Next up for the Bulldogs? It’s the home opener! MSU will welcome Arizona State to Davis Wade Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 6 for a 6:30 p.m. CT kickoff slated to air on ESPN2.

🔼 Road Win. Mississippi State soccer secured the road win on Sunday afternoon in a 1-0 victory. Freshman Tatum Borman found the back of the net just seconds into the second half for the game’s lone goal (and the first of her career!), giving the Bulldogs the win. MSU will head home for its next match on Thursday, Sept. 4 at 6:30 p.m. CT against Louisiana Tech.
