Good morning! The World Athletics Championships, the world’s premier track and field competition, will feature a familiar face in Marco Arop. Racing in the 800-meter event, Arop will take on the world’s best in Budapest later this year representing Team Canada.

Taking the Pitch. Bulldog athletics are up and running again in preparation of the 2023-24 season, and State soccer is getting an early jump at it. Get an inside look at the team’s first practice of the season ahead of their exhibition opener against Kennesaw State next week.

🔼 Meet the Team. As you now know, soccer season is in the very near future. Even the fans have to get prepared for the season, and with that comes learning about the team. Today, get familiar with a couple of State’s goalkeepers that will have the opportunity to suit up this season.
🔼 Hometown Hero. Former Bulldog Jake Mangum knows what it means to play for Mississippi State. Now on to professional baseball, Mangum outlines why he chose to play for the Bulldogs, and why the state of Mississippi means so much to him.
🔼 Watch Out. The star-studded returner, Tulu Griffin, has been named to the 2023 Paul Hornung Award watchlist, an award that goes to the most versatile player in college football.
Last season, Griffin was named an All-American kick returner by Pro Football Focus after accumulating 613 kickoff return yards with one return touchdown. The senior returns as one of State’s most explosive players on the team, and will look to add to his 1,333 career return yards in 2023.
🔼 Gridiron Leader. Quarterback Will Rogers has been named to one of the most impactful watchlists in all of college football. It was announced that he was named to the Wuerffel Trophy, an award that goes to the FBS player that best combines exemplary community service with leadership achievement both on and off the field.
