🔼 Safety First. The Bulldogs are heading into the start of the regular season with a new-look safety group. The position was hit hard with three of its starters leaving due to graduation.
🗣️ “There’s a lot of competition right now and coach Arnett always says that whoever practices the best will get a chance to play and start…but there are six or seven guys that we’ll travel with that are competing for jobs.” - safeties coach Brett Dewhurst
The Dawg with the most experience at safety? Shawn Preston Jr. He comes in with 42 games under his belt, 15 of those starts, with a total of 143 tackles and two interceptions. Beyond Preston Jr., State only has one other safety with prior experience. The position will be a fun one to watch out for this season, and should give plenty of guys opportunities to show what they got.
🔼 First Look. Get a first look at former Diamond Dawg KC Hunt in his new digs with the Milwaukee Brewers. The right-handed pitcher is looking good repping the blue and gold.
🔼 Busy Season. You know fall sports are back whenever the Cowbell Yell is listed on the calendar for the first time in months. State has a lot going on in Starkville this weekend, so be sure to check out what’s happening so you don’t miss a second of all the Bulldog action.
🔼 What A Start. The volleyDawgs had quite the successful start to the season in the StarkVegas Classic, but Lauren Myrick may have had the best start of them all. State finished the regular season opening tournament undefeated with the help from the SEC Co-Defensive Player of the Week.
Myrick finished the weekend averaging 5.88 digs per set, set a career high 27 digs in the match against Louisiana, and helped the Bulldogs to the No. 2 spot in the SEC in digs with 171 total.

🔼 Media Check. The anticipation of football season has reached its peak with State’s first game week officially upon us. Members of the Bulldog football staff and team had the opportunity to meet with the media to discuss their upcoming matchup with Southeastern Louisiana. Now all that’s left is to show out at Davis Wade Stadium this Saturday.
