🔼 Another Won. For the third match in a row, Bulldog Soccer added another victory to the win column. The Dawgs well-rounded performance was highlighted by goals from Kennedy Husbands and Maggie Wadsworth, as well as a stellar defensive effort that limited the 49ers (0-3-0) to just three shots. Husbands, the true freshman, scored her first collegiate goal to put State up one in the first half.
🔼 Watch Out. Bulldog football's Kelly Akharaiyi was named to the preseason watchlist for the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award, an award that honors the top offensive player who exhibits enduring characteristics that define Earl Campbell, and also graduated from a Texas high school and/or plays at a Texas DI college. The wideout turned heads with an outstanding junior campaign where started all 12 games for the Miners and was one of just two C-USA players to tally over 1,000 receiving yards (1,033). On 48 receptions, he averaged 86.1 yards per game while hauling in seven touchdowns.
🔼 State To The Show. Former Diamond Dawg J.T. Ginn took the mound for his MLB debut on Wednesday night for the Oakland A’s. In two innings of work, Ginn allowed zero hits and punched out three batters, much to the delight of his support system and the A’s coaching staff.
🗣️ “It was a great debut. He pounded the zone and struck out the side in the first inning of a big league debut — that’s pretty impressive…It was a really nice night and we were really glad to get [Ginn] out there.” - Mark Kotsay, Oakland A’s manager
