📈 STOCK UP
🔼 Successful Debut. The Bulldogs stood their ground in Phoenix, Arizona, and came out of the desert on top after securing a 2-1 victory over Grand Canyon in the first game of the regular season.
Hannah Johnson put the ball in the back of the net to start off the scoring for State in the 18th minute of the game, and forward Aitana Martinez-Montaya doubled the lead with her sliding effort of a goal in the 71st minute. Scoring goals are great, but goalkeeper Maddy Anderson made the play of the night with a diving save that kept the Lobes scoreless at the time.
After all was said and the done and the whistle was blown, the Bulldogs walked off the pitch undefeated with a 1-0 record to start off the season. Sunday night, State ventures into Tempe, AZ, for the second game of the roadtrip, and will face off against Arizona State.
🔼 Watch Out. Bulldog soccer will have quite the dynamic duo leading the offensive attack with both forwards earning high praise just before the season opener.
⚽️ Aitana Martinez-Montoya achieved an impressive milestone by being named in the Top-100 Collegiate Player Rankings by Top Drawer Soccer. The No. 66 ranked player in the country will be amongst the team’s leaders this year.
⚽️ Kennedy White was named as a ‘Player to Watch’ by the United Soccer Coaches. The grad student’s first year on the team could be a special one.

🔼 And They’re Off! The World Championships of track and field begin this weekend in Budapest, and five former Bulldogs are set to take place in a variety of running and throwing events. Stay up to date on State’s athletes as they compete throughout the weekend and into next week.
🔼 Mr. Thirty-Six. Quarterback Will Rogers will always be number one in our hearts, but ESPN ranked him No. 36 in all of college football in the ESPN.com Top 100 Players rankings. Not too shabby.
“The most accomplished passer in the SEC” enters into his last season with the Bulldogs with many multiples of records, and will look to become the conference’s all-time leading passer needing just 2,478 more yards.
🔼 Elite Returns. The worldwide leader in sports has named State football player Lideatrick ‘Tulu’ Griffin to its Preseason All-American team as a returner. An ESPN writer put it best when it comes to the highly-touted offensive powerhouse, “Any time Griffin has the ball in his hands, the fun begins — unless you’re trying to tackle him.”
🤔 BULLDOG TRIVIA
All the Accolades. State’s leader on the gridiron has shown everyone that he is one of the best passers in the game, and many others have started to take notice.
