🔼 Officially Back. State football participated in their first scrimmage of the season with flashes of talent coming all corners of the team’s depth chart - especially on offense.
🏈 Creed Whittemore made some eye-popping plays while on the field, including multiple catches worthy of a Top-10 appearance on ESPN.
🏈 The running back room looked impressive, from lead back Jo’Quavious Marks showing his versatility, to Simeon Price showing his knack to elude defenders, and Seth Davis who proved he could contribute after a 16-yard touchdown run.
🗣️ “ OC Kevin Barbay was saying after practice he’s been coaching for 20-plus years, and he’s never been satisfied after the first scrimmage. But I definitely think we saw some bright spots tonight.” - QB Will Rogers
All that to say, the Bulldogs are still rounding into form with the 2023 season still a few weeks away. As Mr. Marks put it after the day was done, “Now, it’s back to work.”
🔼 Setting Up Camp. Add another tally to the list of Bulldogs receiving nominations for college football awards this preseason. Will Rogers was named to the 2023 Walter Camp Player of the Year watch list this past weekend. The award listed 45 players to be on the watch to receive the nation’s fourth-oldest individual college football accolade.
🔼 New Digs. State softball’s state-of-the-art facility is officially open for business for a program that has worked hard and dedicated so much over the past few years. Fly through the Bulldogs’ new home for softball to see what our team will be enjoying for years to come.
🔼 Round Two. The Bulldogs’ own Mia Davidson-Smith captained her first team in the AU Softball and did such a great job, she’s back at it again! Davidson-Smith will again captain a team for Week 4 of the season.
Last week, Team Davidson went 2-1, including a win at the Little League Softball World Series in Greenville, North Carolina, just two hours from the captain’s hometown.
🔼 Bump, Set, Scrimmage. Bulldog volleyball competed in the Maroon and White scrimmage this weekend in preparation for the team’s exhibition match this coming Saturday in Starkville. Luckily, the game ended with a win for the good side.
🔼 Making The Leap. With workouts starting later this week for the Bulldog women’s basketball team, Coach Purcell is ready to have his team locked and loaded to potentially become the new top Dawgs of the SEC.
🔼 Strong Finish. Bulldog alum Ally Ewing was right in the thick of the AIG Women’s Open, but came up just short. She capped off an amazing showing with a T-6 finish among the world’s best.

🎉 TRIVIA ANSWER
Answers: Jessika Carter and JerKaila Jordan!
The two combined for, on average, nearly 37 points per game. With these two back in the lineup, alongside a top-25 recruiting class and top-25 transfer additions, this team is ready to breakout in a big way.
