📈 STOCK UP
🔼 To The Max. The 87th Maxwell Award will go out to the most outstanding player in college football at the end of the season, and State quarterback Will Rogers is among the names to watch out for to win the award.
Rogers enters his final season with the Bulldogs with 10,000+ career passing yards, and needs just 2,478 yards this season through the air to become the SEC’s all-time leading passer. He owns 29 program records and is the only SEC quarterback in history to have over 1,000 completions. The complete watchlist includes 85 players, but who’s to say that Mr. Rogers won’t be the one holding the award when it’s all said and done?
🔼 Only The Beginning. The former Diamond Dawg and No. 20 overall pick in the 2023 MLB Draft, Kellum Clark, suited up for his first professional start in the NY Mets organization. He put up a stellar effort at the plate and got the first professional hit of his career in a 9-6 win.
🔼 Setting Records. He’s a runner, he’s a Jamaican track star. This weekend, Navasky Anderson became the first man from Jamaica to break the 1:45 mark in the 800-meter event, in turn setting a national record. With his time, Anderson earned himself a spot in the 2023 World Athletics Championships.
🔼 Grand Entrance. We mentioned that Mia Davidson-Smith was beginning her run in AU’s Championship season, and in her first night of a new season, she blasted a grand slam. Her one swing was good enough to earn her MVP status in Game 1.
🔼 Jav U. MSU Track has four national champions in the javelin this year between current student-athletes and alumni. Curtis Thompson and Anderson Peters are at the top of their game, and have both earned a spot in the 2023 World Athletics Championships. Peters is the two-time reigning champion from Grenada, and Thompson is representing the U.S. after claiming his third USATF Championship in June.
🤔 BULLDOG TRIVIA
Business of Baseball. In sports, it’s rare to choose whether or not you want to stay with a team or go somewhere else. Most times, you go wherever the people in charge tell you to go, and such was the case for one of our former Bulldogs this weekend.
Our question today — which former Diamond Dawg was a part of a notable trade in the MLB on Sunday?
