🏈 COUNTDOWN TO KICKOFF

🔼 Spin It. We only have 2 days until Mississippi State football’s season opener at Southern Miss on Saturday!

Blake Shapen, who wears No. 2 for the Bulldogs, threw for 974 yards and eight touchdowns in four games last season before suffering a season-ending injury, and enters 2025 on the Senior Bowl and Shrine Bowl watch lists.

🔼 On The Road. Mississippi State soccer is on its first road trip of the season! The Bulldogs will play at Baylor tonight before heading to Oklahoma State for a Sunday battle. No. 17 Mississippi State just posted a huge early-season win over then-No. 10 Wake Forest, and the 2-0 Bulldogs will look to build on that momentum with their first road tests of the year.

🔼 Cutting Edge. And speaking of soccer, Mississippi State’s program has reached new heights in recent seasons with an SEC Championship, appearances in the Sweet 16, and so much more. What’s driving this meteoric rise? There are a lot of factors, but the latest technology and a partnership with State’s sports science department and Athlete Engineering Institute have made a big difference. Here’s how.

🔼 Top Duo. Mississippi State is home to the top-ranked men’s doubles team in America! Petar Jovanovic and Benito Sanchez Martinez earned the No. 1 spot in the ITA preseason rankings. Jovanovic and Sanchez Martinez closed out last season ranked second overall in the nation after posting a 22-1 record in the spring.

Fellow Bulldogs Niccolo Baroni and Mario Martinez Serrano are ranked No. 52 in doubles, while Sanchez Martinez claimed the 11th overall spot in the singles rankings. Martinez Serrano also found himself in the singles preseason rankings at No. 95, while freshman Raphael Vaksmann is the 19th-rated overall newcomer.

🔼 Dawg Talk. Mississippi State’s football radio show is back! As the Bulldogs get ready to take to the gridiron, Dawg Talk will be back on the airwaves with head coach Jeff Lebby, student-athletes, and special guests from Mississippi State’s athletics department. You can catch the show in person on Wednesdays from 6-7 p.m. at Walk-On’s Sports Bistreaux in Starkville, live on the Bulldog Sports Network, streaming on HailState.com, or on the radio.
