In this episode of Dear Ol’ State, part of the HailState+ Podcast Network, listen in with the Bulldog’s newest pro athlete Chloe Malau’ulu. She discusses her dreams being fulfilled, as well as her time in the Maroon and White.

🔼 Wednesday Recap. After the first day of events, State track and field showed out in the NCAA Outdoor Championships.

  • Cameron Crump finished on the podium after placing fifth in the long jump with a mark of 7.91 meters. With the finish, Crump earned First Team ALl-American honors for the first time.

  • Peyton Bair competed in the first five of ten events in the Decathlon as just one of three freshman. He earned top-5 finishes in the 100-meter, high jump, and 400-meter race totaling 4,212 points.

  • Remi Rougetet had a championship to remember with a career best throw in the javelin with an attempt of 73.41 meters. For his efforts, he earned Second Team All-American honors.

🔼 From Big South To State. Dusan Milanovic, one of the nation’s top transfers, is on his way to Starkville. He was the 2022 Big South Conference Freshman of the Year and 2023 Big South Conference Player of the Year in his first two seasons at Presbyterian. He has postseason experience after qualifying for both the singles and doubles NCAA Tournaments this season. “Dusan is going to be a perfect fit for our team and culture,” head coach Matt Roberts stated after announcing Milanovic’s signing. He finished with a 19-3 record in singles play and finished ranked 69th in the nation.

He will join current Bulldogs, and 2023 nationally ranked players, Nemanja Malesevic and Carles Hernandez for another shot at a title next season.

🔼 Half Tea Half Lemonade. SEC Player of the Year Julia Lopez Ramirez is competing this week in the Arnold Palmer Cup, a premier event that showcases the top 24 men and women U.S. collegiate golfer and pits them against their international counterparts.

Thursday’s round will kick off the 27th annual event, and go through Saturday including mixed matches, team play, and ending with individual competition.

Pulling Rank. Tennis has never been hotter at State after the signing of Milanovic, and joining the star studded signing class of five-star Roberto Ferrer Guimaraes and four-star Marshall Landry. Bulldog men’s tennis had a couple of players finish the 2023 season ranked by the ITA to end the season.
