🔼 All-American Dawg. For the first time in 23 years, Bulldogs men’s golf had a player selected to an All-American team. Freshman Garrett Endicott was named to the GCAA DI PING Honorable Mention All-American for his efforts this season.

As one of the 34 golfers named to the list, Endicott finishes the season among the top 64 golfers in the nation at the DI level. He becomes the first Bulldog men’s golfer to be given the honor since Alex Rocha earned a first team selection in 2000.

“He had a great season this year and deserves the honor. I am just so happy for him,” expressed head coach Dusty Smith.

Endicott earned the selection after eight top-20 finishes in his freshman season and leading the team in stroke average (71.2). He shot par or better in 23 of 36 rounds, and earned two SEC Freshman of the Week awards, Second Team All-SEC, and SEC All-Freshman honors. After tying for 11th in the NCAA Regional, Endicott will be hungry to return to the course for State next season.

🔼 Legend In The Making. The Dawgs have found their way down to Austin, TX at the DKR, and are getting ready for the NCAA Outdoor Championships that will be underway later today. Eight State student-athletes will be competing for a chance at an NCAA title, but one Bulldog in particular is trying to leap into history.

After being named the 2023 SEC Men’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Year, and winning the SEC Championship in the long jump competition with the fifth-longest jump in the history of collegiate indoor track and field, Cameron Crump has his eyes set on an outdoor title this week. “Crump is one of those student-athletes who you wish had an infinite amount of eligibility,” said head coach Chris Woods. “He’s put himself in the position to be competitive at the next level…to potentially be a world champion and Olympic-caliber athlete.”

Read more about Cameron Crump’s decision to call MSU home, and the impact he has made around his teammates, family, and university.

🔼 Small Town, Big Stage. MSU softball is already focused on next season, and the Coach Samantha Ricketts announced a new transfer that’s she to produce some firepower next season. Sierra Sacco will join State softball next season fresh off the heels of a pair of C-USA First Team All-Conference honors.

The Top 10 Finalist for the NFCA National Freshman of the Year will call State her home next season as an outfielder who ranked in the top-12 nationally in stolen bases with 36 steals. During her freshman campaign, she set the Louisiana Tech single-season record with 83 hits and posted a .441 batting average that ranked eighth nationally.

“I loved the atmosphere Mississippi State had to offer. I love the family feel to the community and how it’s a small town with a big stage,” said the newest Bulldog. Look for Sacco to produce some high-quality softball next year for the Dawgs.

🔼 Keep On Rolling. The 2023 tennis season has come and gone, but the awards for Bulldog tennis keep on coming down the line.

  • Head Coach Matt Roberts was named the ITA Southern Regional Coach of the Year for the fourth time, his first since 2019.

  • Assistant Coach Jake Jacoby was selected as the ITA Southern Regional Assistant Coach of the Year.

  • Ewen Lumsden was the fourth player in MSU history to be named the ITA Senior Player of the Year.

  • Gregor Ramskogler became the first Bulldog ever to be selected as the ITA Most Improved Senior.

The team found plenty of success this season including an overall record of 21-8, an NCAA Regional win in Starkville, and an ITA No. 16 ranking.

🎉 TRIVIA ANSWER

Answer: 8.39 meters!

For you non-metric users out there, that’s just over 27 and a half feet. It was a mark he bested in the same season after posting a jump of 8.21 meters that broke the MSU indoor long jump record.

Have a great Wednesday, y'all.
