🔼 Leaving A Legacy. MSU’s M-Club Hall of Fame is home to the greatest State athletes to come through the university, and this year, the Bulldogs are welcoming six new members.

⚾️ Jay Powell: As a member of the 1991-1993 Bulldog baseball teams, Powell dominated the mound as a reliever in the SEC. He helped lead State to an NCAA Regional in each of his seasons, and accumulates 17 saves and 160 strikeouts through his 161 innings.

In 1993, he was selected 19th overall in the MLB Draft, and went on to 11 successful seasons in pro baseball, eventually ending his career never having had a losing record.

🏀 Sharon Fanning-Otis: The winningest women’s basketball coach in MSU history joins the M-Club Class of 2023 after her 17 seasons at the helm. Fanning-Otis lead the Bulldogs to an NCAA Tournament or NIT in 11 out of 17 seasons, and accumulated 281 victories.

She was awarded an SEC Coach of the Year in the 1999-2000 season after a school-best 24 wins, and led MSU to their first Sweet 16 appearance in the 2009-2010 season.

🏈 Don Smith: As one of the most prolific quarterbacks in MSU history, Smith finds himself in the M-Club Class of 2023 after four years of outstanding play. The letterwinner, from 1983-1986 still holds top 10 records in career total yards, career touchdowns, and career passing yards. He also was named to multiple First Team All-SEC selections from the AP and league coaches during his senior season.

🏈 Robert Bell: The MSU trailblazer finds his rightful place in the M-Club Class of 2023 after becoming one of the first Black student-athletes in State football history.

The standout defensive lineman made his impact felt both on and off the field as a leader, exemplified after leading the Bulldogs to their first winning season in seven years in 1970. During his time, he was a honor student, team captain, and fan favorite. Having passed away in 2022, Bell’s legacy will live on at MSU.

🏀 Jerry Jenkins: Mr. Jenkins also made MSU history as one of the first Black men’s basketball players in program history in 1972. He went on to nab a pair of All-SEC First Team selections in back to back seasons from 1973-1975.

He finished his career with the Bulldogs as one of only seven players to score at least 1,500 career points with 500 career rebounds. He currently sits at 11th all-time on MSU’s career scoring list after averaging just over 19 points per game.

🏐 Edwina Denise (Anthony) Arnold: It’s safe to say Arnold ranks among the best in Bulldog volleyball history. She stands as the all-time leader in career solo blocks at 117 (34 more than the next closest player), and carries three of the top 10 single-season blocks records.

On top of leading her team as a captain in 1985, Arnold went on to serve in the military as an Army Colonel. A life marked by leadership and service, Arnold exemplifies what it means to be a member of the M-Club Hall of Fame.
