📈 STOCK UP

🔼  Among The Best. Diamond Dawg sophomore shortstop, David Mershon, was announced as one of five finalists for the 2024 Brooks Wallace Award. The Brooks Wallace Award is given out annually to the best shortstop nationwide. Mershon started 43 games at shortstop this season for State, and recorded team-highs in fielding percentage (.979), runs scored (60) and stolen bases (27).

🔼  Big League Dawg. Bulldog softball’s Madisyn Kennedy signed a professional contract with the independent Florida Vibe to become the 25th professional player in program history. She is the second member of the 2024 class to continue her career after college, joining Brylie St. Clair who signed with the Texas Monarchs in Women's Pro Fastpitch earlier this week.

🗣️ "I am so honored and blessed to have the opportunity to play professionally," Kennedy said. "This was a dream of mine since I was little, but to be frank I was content with my career after this season before this came about. When this opportunity came, it was an answered prayer, and I am incredibly grateful.” - Madisyn Kennedy

🔼  Academic Success. Following an incredible 14th consecutive semester with a 3.0 or higher departmental GPA, Mississippi State continued to elevate its high academic standard by earning a 990.6 Academic Progress Rate (APR) — the third-best in the SEC. The APR provides a real-time look at a team's academic success by tracking eligibility and progress toward graduation of each student-athlete on scholarship. Men’s golf, soccer, women’s tennis and volleyball each achieved a 1,000 multi-year APR, the highest possible mark.

🔼  Major Moves. Former Bulldog women’s golfer Ally Ewing shined at the 79th U.S. Women’s Open after finishing third. Her 4-under par round on Sunday helped her climb the leaderboard to record her first top-three finish this season.
