📈 STOCK UP

🔼 Lock It In. There’s no hiding when it, there are no off nights in the SEC. In the nation’s toughest women’s basketball conference, the Bulldogs are going to have a chance to play against some of the best competition in the country. The SEC announced in-conference opponents on Wednesday, and will feature some marquee matchups as the season goes on.

Highlighting some of the key home opponents for the Bulldogs are the defending national champion LSU Tigers, as well as a pair of Sweet Sixteen opponents in Tennessee and Ole Miss. Coming off of a successful first season at the helm, Coach Sam Purcell will hope to keep the momentum going after winning 22 games last season and making an NCAA Tournament appearance for the first time in four years.

🔼 First Time For Everything. In her first season with the AUX, the powerhouse that is Mia Davidson-Smith captured third place among the league leaderboard. Her stat point total was the second-highest in the league and in the history of the AUX.

🗣️ “Winning a third place medal is pretty cool, especially being my first time playing AUX. [It] was a great experience.” - Mia Davidson-Smith

🔼 Challenge Accepted. This season, the NCAA is launching the inaugural ACC/SEC Challenge, and both of our men’s and women’s basketball programs will be in attendance.

  • The men will head to Atlanta, GA on November 28th to face off against Georgia Tech. When it comes to conference challenges, the Bulldogs know how to get it done after taking the last two of three matchups against the Big 12.

  • The women will get to kick off the ACC/SEC Challenge inside Humphrey Coliseum on Wednesday, November 29th. The Bulldogs will welcome the Hurricanes of Miami to Starkville for the very first time. This will be just the second time that State and ‘The U’ have met on the hardwood, with the last meeting coming all the way back in 1987 in Anchorage, Alaska. The Bulldogs won that battle 81-67.
