📈 STOCK UP

🔼 A Walk Down Main’s Street. There’s a new striker in Starkville. Zoe Main joins us from Oklahoma as part of the 2023 signing class with four years left of eligibility as a true freshman.

The former 3-star recruit, and No. 32 ranked player in the state of Texas, ended her high school career with 57 goals and 40 assists, including a 32 goal season during her junior campaign. Head coach James Armstrong couldn’t be happier about the acquisition. “Her pace, strength, tenacity and nose for the goal will add another element to our attacking play. This was the icing on the cake for a tremendous transfer window.”

The former 2022 District 6A MVP and 6A First Team All-State team member is gearing up to be a big contributor for the Bulldogs next season.

🔼 Straight Aces. With a fantastic career in the books, women’s tennis standout Emmanouela Antonaki finished on a high note on the court, and in the classroom. Yesterday, the five-time All-SEC honoree was selected as a First Team CSC Academic All-American. She becomes just the second player in program history to earn the selection, and the first since 2015. She received the honor after completing her master’s in sports administration with a perfect 4.0 GPA.

🔼 Final Rankings. With tennis season done for the year, ITA released its final individual rankings of the season. A couple of Bulldogs saw some end of year success on the list including women’s tennis standout, and NCAA Tournament participant, Emmanouela Antonaki (what can’t she do?) as she finished the season the 47th ranked singles player in the nation.

As for the men’s team, three Bulldogs finished in the top-115 of singles in the nation with Nemanja Malesevic leading the pack coming in at No. 89. In the doubles rankings, Carles Hernandez, alongside Malesevic, finished as the No. 64 team in the nation after their showing in the NCAA Tournament.

🔼 State To The Show. A pair of Bulldogs are making some noise for their respective teams as they work their way up the system for a chance at some big league action.

  • Tanner Allen, the 2021 SEC Player of the Year, came up big for the Beloit Sky Carp (a Miami Marlins affiliate), earning Player of the Game honors after going 3-4 including this monster home run.

  • Jordan Westburg (pictured above) continues to show out for the first place Norfolk Tides (a Baltimore Orioles affiliate) after hitting his 15th homer on the season that contributed to another win for his squad.

🤔 BULLDOG TRIVIA

🎉 TRIVIA ANSWER

Answer: Ewen Lumsden and Carles Hernandez!

Each squeaked into the top-115 coming in with a final ranking of 109 and 113 respectively. Bulldog men’s tennis had quite the season, and after winning the Starkville regional and making an appearance in the NCAA Tournament, this team has something to be excited about.

Have a great weekend, y'all.
