📈 STOCK UP

🔼 Prep Time. This season, Malik Ellis is putting in the work to become the next great football player out of Laurel High School for the Bulldogs. After seeing his predecessor, Charles Cross, reach the heights he has, Ellis is determined to follow in his footsteps.

Ellis was able to graduate early from high school to begin early enrollment to try and bolster up his size and strength before the season. After joining the team as a 230-pound tight end, the freshman has put on a solid 25 pounds with aspirations of becoming State’s next great offensive tackle. “I feel like it was good thing and gives me a better opportunity,” said Ellis.

Read more about Malik Ellis and his goals from not only himself, but his legacy for Mississippi State and his hometown, Laurel, Miss.

🔼 New Digs. There’s a new baller in town, and MSU volleyball head coach Julie Darty Dennis is to thank for it. Joining the Bulldogs next season will be Zoe Gonzales, a 6-foot-3 middle blocker to help protect the net with her size and athleticism.

Gonzales brings her experience and knowledge of the game after a couple seasons at Jacksonville State, and before that, Wake Forest. During her 2022 campaign, she started 23 matches and collected 128 kills and finished second on the team in blocks with 71. “We knew we needed a little more depth…and Zoe was the perfect fit,” said Coach Dennis about her most recent acquisition for the team.

🎉 TRIVIA ANSWER

Answer: Two!

He’s at the top of the list for both runs batted in during a career (265) and total bases (544). He also holds the third most hits, doubles, games played, and fifth in at bats. He was a force to be reckoned with during his time with the team in the late 90’s!

Have a great Thursday, y'all.
