Bulldog Brew 6/26: Gang's All Here!
Softball has put the finishing touch on its 2026 roster!

Good morning, Bulldogs! There’s some new art up on the wall in the women’s basketball offices!
What else do we have brewing today?
🥎 Finishing touch
⚽️ Rounding out the roster
🐶 And much, much more!

Earlier this week, it was revealed that Mississippi State’s Davis Wade Stadium has been ranked as one of the Top 25 toughest places to play in the soon-to-be-released College Football 26 video game.
There is no doubt our Dawgs’ home can be as loud and raucous as any environment in all of college football. We’ve seen it through the years, time and time again.
It got me to thinking. What’s the loudest Davis Wade Stadium has ever been?
I’m surely about to leave some possibilities out, but off the top of my head, here are a few candidates that left my ears buzzing for days:
2007 vs. Alabama – Mississippi State’s 17-12 victory over the Crimson Tide not only provided the Bulldogs with a key win, but it also delivered one of the most memorable plays in State history that shook the ground in Starkville. Just before halftime, MSU’s Anthony Johnson intercepted Alabama quarterback John Parker Wilson and returned the pick 103 yards for a touchdown. I was a graduate assistant for athletic marketing at the time and had the chance to be on the sideline near where Johnson was when he intercepted the pass. The clanging and roaring were absolutely deafening on the field. At the time, in my mind, it was inarguably the loudest moment in our stadium’s history.
2009 vs. Florida – The end result of the game wasn’t as glorious, but two years following Johnson’s big interception return, State’s Johnthan Banks gave us all a little déjà vu. Banks picked off Florida great Tim Tebow just prior to halftime and went end zone to end zone to put MSU back within a score of the Gators headed into the intermission. Banks added another pick-six late in the game, but that first one would’ve blown the roof off the place if there had been one. What a moment it was.
2013 vs. Ole Miss – In an Egg Bowl that’ll always be remembered for Bulldog legend Dak Prescott returning from injury late and leading a comeback, the night’s loudest moment was reserved for the final play. After Prescott gave MSU a 17-10 lead with his clutch, fourth-down touchdown run in overtime, Ole Miss quarterback Bo Wallace fumbled on the Rebels’ ensuing possession. Jamerson Love picked it up to clinch victory for the Bulldogs and Davis Wade Stadium exploded as MSU secured the Golden Egg trophy.
2014 vs. Auburn – There wasn’t one particularly loud moment in this game so much as it was a day full of loudness from beginning to end. Mississippi State entered this contest essentially knowing a victory over the Tigers would make the Bulldogs the No. 1 team in the country. Both the Dawgs and the State faithful were ready for the moment. MSU was in control for most of the game, the Bulldogs toppled the Tigers and memories for a lifetime were made for so many of us. A day later, it became official. Mississippi State was the top team in all the land and would stay there for five glorious weeks, also becoming the first team to ever be No. 1 in what was then the brand-new College Football Playoff rankings.
2019 vs. Ole Miss – It was one of the wildest, wackiest finishes you’ll ever see in a college football game. Now six years later, it still seems unreal. We won’t rehash a play-by-play of the final moments here. Odds are, if you’re reading this, you know the story. And when that potential Ole Miss game-tying PAT was missed, Davis Wade went absolutely bonkers.
There have been so many great, loud moments through the years that have rightfully earned Davis Wade Stadium a spot as one of the toughest environments in the game – both the video game and the real-life version. Make sure you’re in Starkville to keep our place rocking!
