Good morning! The electrifying Josh Hubbard made his announcement that he is staying to play with the Bulldogs for the 2024-25 season. The five-time SEC Freshman of the Week selection and All-SEC Second Team member returns after setting the single-season record for points by a freshman (598) and three-pointers made (108).

🔼 Reaching New Heights. Bulldog softball’s Madisyn Kennedy’s performance in the month of March was capped off by being named the top first baseman in the country by Softball America. Kennedy hit .378 in March with a 1.133 slugging percentage that rose her season slugging percentage to 1.027, which is now a top-three mark nationally. She has driven in 34 RBIs in the past month, and her 45 RBIs this season are seventh nationally.

🔼 Masters of the Game. State women’s golf’s Julia Lopez Ramirez and Chiara Horder will both compete at the highly respected Augusta National Women’s Amateur golf tournament this week against some of the top amateurs in the world. The first two rounds of the four-day contest will take place at Champions Retreat Golf Club, with a practice day and the final round occurring at Augusta National Golf Club — the home of the most famous tournament in the world, The Masters.

🔼 Chart Climbers. Bulldog Athletics has a whole host of teams ranked in the top 25 of their respective sports heading into April.

👟 Men’s track and field earned a No. 6 ranking in the latest USTFCCCA National Ratings Index following record-breaking performances at the Battle at the Bayou.

🥎 Bulldog softball continued the steady climb coming as high as No. 15 in the country across the four major ranking systems.

🎾 State men’s tennis reached No. 14 in the most recent ITA Rankings after going on a four-match win streak — all against ranked opponents.

⚾️ The Diamond Dawgs slotted in at No. 19 in the Baseball America rankings and No. 23 in the latest D1Baseball poll.

🔼 Big Leaguer. Former Diamond Dawg and the reigning World Series champion Texas Rangers’ No. 5 prospect, Justin Foscue, received the call to the majors on Tuesday. Foscue is the 69th Diamond Dawg player to reach MLB and the first to be called up to make his Major League debut since June 26, 2023, when the Baltimore Orioles called up Jordan Westburg. Foscue is the first Bulldog to get called up for his Major League debut this season.

Power Ball. First baseman Madisyn Kennedy caught fire in March and was rewarded for her efforts by being named the top in her position in all of Division I softball.
