All-Access: Howell Trophy. The Howell Trophy is an award given annually to the best men's college basketball player in the state of Mississippi by the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame, and this year’s winner was none other than Josh Hubbard.

📈 STOCK UP

🔼 Moving On Up. Due to the threat of bad weather, the Diamond Dawgs' midweek contest versus Central Arkansas has been moved up to an 11 a.m. first pitch on today at Dudy Noble Field. For the third straight week, the Diamond Dawgs find themselves in the national rankings. The Diamond Dawgs came in at No. 23 by D1 Baseball and No. 19 by Baseball America. The last time these two squads met was over a decade ago in a game in which the Bulldogs came away victorious.

🔼 Immediate Impact. The freshman trio’s contributions in all aspects of the game have aided the Bulldogs to two top-10 victories, most recently a win over No. 10 Florida. Salen Hawkins, Kylee Edwards and Ella Wesolowski combined for 13 hits and eight RBIs in the series against the Gators this week. This season, they have combined for a .339 average at the plate with a .932 OPS and have driven in 59 runners.

🔼 First Things First. Former Bulldog and professional golfer, Austin Rose, earned his first pro win at the Coushatta Open with a score of 21-under par. Rose, a four-year letter winner for State from 2014-2018, handled the course with ease, finishing with a two-stroke lead. The former Bulldog carded nine birdies and eagled the par-5 18th hole during the third round to finish at 11-under. His 61 now stands as the course record at the Koasati Pines Golf Course and gave him a comfortable lead over the field heading into the final round. 

🔼 Time To Shine. Bulldog women’s basketball’s Jessika Carter was selected as one of this year’s best to compete in the 2024 Women’s College All-Star Game. Carter will suit up for the contest in Cleveland, OH, on April 6th in a battle amongst the sports’ best. Tune in on Saturday, April 6th on ESPN2 to catch the dominant center in action!

🔼 Epic Comeback. Former Bulldog men’s tennis player, Nuno Borges, overcame the odds to beat former top 10 pro, Lucas Pouille, to reach the second round at the Estoril Open. It is the third time in the last four years that Borges earned himself a spot in the second round.

Immediate Success. Bulldog softball’s freshmen have been able to come in and help the team to a 25-9 record so far this season, and have done so in the field and at the plate.
