🔼 Rally Dub. After winning the doubles point, the Bulldogs fell behind 3-2 and needed wins on the final two courts to keep their streak alive. Freshman Roberto Ferrer Guimaraes and senior Carles Hernandez both came through in the clutch with third-set victories to earn State its eighth ranked win of the year over Alabama and fourth over a top-25 opponent. The Bulldogs have now won 11 of their last 13 matches and gone 7-2 against ranked foes during that span.

🔼 Broken Records. Three Bulldogs broke records in the team’s showing at the Battle of the Bayou over the weekend. Pole vaulter Emma Hunt cleared 4.15m to set the new school record. State dominated the shot put with Roury McCloyen and Jhordyn Stallworth each setting program records in their performances with McCloyen breaking the freshman record for a second time with a throw of 19.29m while Stallworth improved her school record by over three feet to move to third in the nation.

🔼 Close Contests. After taking the first game of the series against No. 10 Florida, Bulldog softball dropped back-to-back closely contested matchups to the Gators at Nusz Park. Friday night saw a comeback attempt fall short after State put up three runs in the seventh, and Saturday’s rubber match was another close one but the Bulldogs fell 7-6 to close out the series. Kylee Edwards, Ella Wesolowski and Salen Hawkins combined to go 13-for-27 at the plate with eight RBIs, and Madisyn Kennedy extended her career-long reached-base streak to 21 games.

🔼 Dawg Fight. Fresh off a 12-2 win over No. 6 Florida where the Diamond Dawgs hit a season-high five home runs, State looked to capture the series on the road in the Sunday rubber match. After scoring one in the fifth and two in the sixth, the Dawgs held the lead until the last at-bat of the series and fell 4-3 to the Gators. The team will return on Tuesday for a midweek matchup against Central Arkansas.

🤔 BULLDOG TRIVIA
