📈 STOCK UP

🔼 Playoff Time. Bulldog women’s basketball will open up postseason play when the team faces No. 9 seed Texas A&M in the second round of the 2024 SEC Tournament. State came out on top in the one regular season matchup with a 74-63 win on the road. Head coach Sam Purcell and his team will get the opportunity to avenge last season’s loss in the postseason to the Aggies as the No. 8 seed in the conference. With a 21-10 record in the regular season, Purcell became the first head coach in school history – men's or women's – to record consecutive 20-plus win seasons to start their tenure. He is also one of 11 SEC head coaches all-time to record 20 or more wins in each of their first two seasons and one of five since 2000.

🔼 Fierce Competitor. Bulldog softball’s Kylee Edwards has been enjoying early success in her first year in Starkville, most recently during the team’s sweep at the Bulldog Invitational. The freshman infielder has hit four home runs this season to go along with a plethora of outstanding web gems at shortstop. The fierceness and determination that Edwards carries have been integral traits of her personality on and off the field. Her competitive mentality helps light a fire underneath her fellow teammates surrounding her on the diamond as well.

🗣️ "She wants to hit every ball hard, make every out she gets, and it's awesome because it feeds off to everyone around her. It helps raise the competitiveness of the team, and it's been fun to watch her continue to get more comfortable." - head coach Samantha Ricketts

🔼 Heading Back Home. Bulldog men’s basketball came up short on the road after to Texas A&M, 75-69, after the team’s valiant efforts at making a comeback. State found themselves down 12 at the half, but with a little over 90 seconds left in the game, a Cameron Matthews dunk brought the team within three points. The Bulldogs were unable to get any closer as the buzzer sounded. Josh Hubbard recorded his 10th 20-point game of the season with 24 points including five made threes. Dashawn Davis stepped up with 15 points on 80% shooting from beyond the arc. Mississippi State will head back to The Hump on Saturday for Senior Day in the final game of the regular season to take on South Carolina at 1:30 p.m.

🔼 At Your Service. Mississippi State's Jimmy Bell Jr. was selected for the SEC Community Service Team. Bell Jr. has participated in 10 community service events since he arrived on campus last summer. He and his teammates welcomed members of State's Access Program and students with disabilities, and conducted a practice session with the program's members before the season began. The 6-foot-10 forward’s community service projects also encompass spending time with residents at an assisted living facility, distributing food from a local bank to the Starkville community and aiding in State's initiative to clean up campus.

🔼 Record Day. The Bulldogs capped off the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate with a tenth-place finish while Julia Lopez Ramirez put together a record day to finish co-champion at five-under after the third round. Lopez Ramirez's seven-under round on day three set a record for the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate, as it was the lowest 18-hole score in the history of the tournament. She also tied her record for the third-lowest round in program history, which trails her records of second lowest and lowest rounds. The team shot four-under collectively and was the only one of two teams on the day to finish under-par for the round.

🔼 Dear Ol’ State. Mississippi State baseball is starting to roll. The Diamond Dawgs defeated Southern Miss on Tuesday night to claim State's sixth-straight win. On the latest episode of Dear Ol' State, Joel Coleman and Logan Lowery discuss the red-hot Bulldogs, plus State student assistant Elizabeth Keen provides on-site coverage from the SEC Women's Basketball Tournament.
