Good morning! One Bulldog men’s basketball player joined an exclusive club during the team’s battle against Kentucky. Senior guard Shakeel Moore scored 10 points in the game, earning him status in the career 1,000-point club. This season, Moore has the fourth-highest points per game on the team and the highest 3-point field goal percentage (min. 50 attempts).

📈 STOCK UP

🔼 Team Win. Bulldog baseball defeated Mount St. Mary's, 12-2, in a complete team effort on Thursday at The Dude. The Maroon and White accumulated 12 hits, 12 runs, and 11 RBI in the game while only giving up two runs and limiting the Mountaineers to six hits in the contest. David Mershon and Hunter Hines led the way at the plate. Mershon went 3-for-4 with one RBI, and Hines led the team with three RBIs. Amani Larry worked his magic at the plate and drew a career-high four walks, which accounted for almost half of the Bulldogs' walks in the game. Nate Dohm drew the start and recorded his second straight victory of the season. He tied his career-high with seven innings of work while striking out eight and only giving up one run.

🔼 Road Test. Bulldog women’s basketball fell 77-60 on the road to Auburn. Senior guard Jerkaila Jordan turned in her seventh double-double of the season with 12 points and 10 rebounds, while center Jessika Carter added 16 points and seven rebounds. The loss moved State to 20-10 on the season as the season winds down. On Sunday against Missouri, the Bulldogs will celebrate Senior Day for the final regular season home game.

🔼 Run Ruled. Bulldog softball opened up the Bulldog Invitational presented by C Spire with a convincing 9-0 victory over Southern Miss in five innings of play. State scored three runs in three separate frames with the help of two home runs and four stolen bases. From the circle, Josey Marron tossed her third complete game of the year, striking out eight batters and improving to 5-0 on the season. With one win for the weekend under the team’s belt, the Bulldogs are set to meet Troy today at 3 p.m. as the Bulldog Invitational presented by C Spire continues throughout the weekend.

🔼 Career Revival. The Diamond Dawg’s catcher, Joe Powell, is off to a strong start to the 2024 season behind the plate for the Bulldogs, but just last year the senior was out of baseball completely. With his baseball career seemingly over, Powell began training to become a firefighter and it was during his time away from the game that he found himself as a man and grew closer in his faith.

A new opportunity awaited Powell in Starkville after receiving a call from the Mississippi State coaching staff. The Mason, Ohio native was not expecting to get back out on the diamond, but a friend of Bulldog pitching coach Justin Parker helped get Powell on campus. He's felt at home ever since.

🔼 Lights, Camera, Football. SEC Media Days will be in a different spot for the fourth year in a row: Dallas, Texas. The annual SEC Football Kickoff Media Days presented by Regions, is set to take place July 15-18 at the Omni Hotel in downtown Dallas. Head coach Jeff Lebby is the only confirmed representative from Mississippi State to attend on July 17. A more detailed schedule with full television information, rotational breakdown and student-athletes attending will be available before the event in early July.

🔼 Golf Ranks. Coming off of a ninth-place finish at the Watersound Invitational, the Bulldog men’s golf team moved to No. 22 in the Clippd Team Rankings. Later this month, State will be tested at the two-day event in Tallahassee, FL at the Seminole Intercollegiate as Hunter Logan, Josep Serra and the rest of the Bulldogs will look to return to form.
