Bulldog Brew 3/31: Jake Mangum, Major Leaguer

Diamond Dawg alum Jake Mangum has gotten the call to the Big Leagues!

Good morning, Bulldogs! Jake Mangum is a Major Leaguer!

What else do we have brewing today?

🥎 Win over No. 1 Texas
🎾 Three in a row
🐶 And much, much more!

📈 STOCK UP

🔼 Proved It. No. 18 Mississippi State softball picked up a win over No. 1 Texas over the weekend, beating the Longhorns 4-3 in Game 1 of a doubleheader on Friday at Nusz Park. Raelin Chaffin tossed her 12th complete game and collected her 16th win of the year in the series opener.

🔼 Momentum Builds. No. 17 Mississippi State men’s tennis improved to 17-4 and pushed its win streak to three matches over the weekend, beating No. 29 Florida by a final score of 5-2 on Saturday. Benito Sanchez Martinez, Petar Jovanovic, Niccolo Baroni and Mario Martinez Serrano all earned singles wins against the Gators.

🔼 Broken Records. A pair of Mississippi State track and field program records fell at the Battle on the Bayou in Baton Rouge, La., over the weekend — Marie Rougetet set the women’s hammer throw record with a toss of 66.41m, while Naomi Jepleting shattered the previous school record in the women’s 5,000 meters by 20 seconds, running 16:01.82.

The Mississippi Department of Rehabilitation Services (MDRS) is proud to partner once again with the Mississippi Highway Patrol (MHP) to launch the 2025 PROM Campaign—"Please Return On Monday." Now in its eighth year, this impactful program educates high school students about the importance of making safe driving decisions during prom season. Through powerful presentations, students learn about the dangers of impaired and distracted driving, the importance of seatbelt use, and the life-changing consequences of risky behavior behind the wheel.

Throughout the campaign, MHP Public Affairs Officers, MDRS representatives, and MDRS client speakers share real-life stories to emphasize how one decision can alter lives forever. Survivors recount their experiences with crashes caused by reckless driving, underscoring the reality that surviving doesn’t mean escaping consequences. Since its launch in 2018, PROM has grown exponentially, reaching over 13,100 students in 2024 alone. With momentum building, the 2025 campaign is already off to a strong start with 22 presentations scheduled. MDRS and MHP remain committed to ensuring Mississippi’s youth make safe choices and return on Monday. To schedule a presentation, contact [email protected] or call 1-800-443-1000.
