📈 STOCK UP

🔼 Top Dawgs. Mississippi State earned a gritty victory on its home court thanks to a strong first half as it took down Georgia, 75-62. State pulled ahead in the first three minutes of the game and never trailed from that point forward. Tolu Smith III led all Bulldogs and recorded a double-double with 19 points and 12 rebounds. Cameron Matthews nearly followed suit with nine points and 11 boards while also adding four assists, four blocks and three steals. Up next, Mississippi State will look to build on Wednesday's triumph as the team travels to Missouri to face off with the Tigers on Saturday.

🔼 Science Guy. State football head coach Jeff Lebby made another important addition to the program’s staff with the hire of the Bulldogs’ new director of football sports science, Mason Walters. Walters will have the important task of evaluating and monitoring player performance by gathering data to optimize athlete training, performance and return to sport through state-of-the-art technology. He will also work closely with the strength and conditioning, sports medicine, sports nutrition and sports psychology staff.

🔼 Freshman Honors. Bulldog women’s tennis’ Jayna Clemens was selected as the SEC’s Freshman of the Week following her standout performance in keeping State as the only undefeated team left in the conference. Clemens remains unbeaten in singles during dual match play and earned three singles wins this past week, and is the first Bulldog to be named SEC Freshman of the Week since Chloé Cirotte claimed that honor twice in 2021. She is now the 13th player and the ninth freshman to earn an SEC weekly honor under Chris Hooshyar and the first from Mississippi State.

🔼 Sheer Determination. The Bulldogs were without senior leader Nemanja Malesevic but showcased their determination in the 4-3 comeback victory over Memphis on the Tigers’ home court. After losing the doubles point, the match came down to Dusan Milanovic who came through with the two-set win to secure the victory for State.

🗣️ "The boys rallied and showed a lot of resilience throughout the match. (Petar Jovanovic) and (Dusan Milanovic) were huge for us coming back after dropping their first sets. This win gives the boys some positive feedback for their hard work these last two weeks. We will keep digging." - head coach Matt Roberts

🔼 Starting Off Strong. After finishing tied for third at the Thomas Sharkey Individual Collegiate, Bulldog men’s golfer Drew Wilson was named the SEC Freshman Golfer of the Week. Wilson shot a 7-under 209 in his collegiate debut and was the highest-placing freshman in the field. He was also named to the Thomas Sharkey Individual Collegiate All-Tournament Team for his efforts. Wilson’s highlight of the tournament came during the second round where he shot a career-low 65 which tied the lowest from a State golfer this season.
