📈 STOCK UP

🔼 Hail At The Hump. The Bulldogs kept the momentum rolling in the team’s hard-fought 71-67 win over Arkansas to record the third-straight conference win. State has won nine of the last 11 meetings over Arkansas since the 2015-16 season, highlighted by five straight victories at The Hump. Cameron Matthews stuffed the stat sheet, tallying a double-double with 17 points, and 10 rebounds, and added three assists and a block. Josh Hubbard led the team with a clutch 19-point performance with a team-high three made 3-pointers. The win brought the Bulldogs’ record to 17-8 on the season, and next up, State will take on rival Ole Miss on Wednesday at 8 p.m.

🔼 Viva Las Dawgs. Bulldog softball wrapped up its trip abroad at the Puerto Vallarta College Challenge with two postponed/canceled games and two top-15 wins. Friday’s games against UC Davis and UC San Diego were shifted due to weather, so the challenge started with a meeting with No. 8 Clemson. Thanks to seven of the nine Bulldog starters earning a hit and four errors by the Tigers, State pulled off the 6-3 upset win. In the next game against No. 13 Utah, the Bulldogs extended their win streak after a six-inning 10-2 win behind Josey Marron’s pitching and an explosion from the bats that included a three-run home run from Jessie Blaine. Wrapping up the tournament, State suffered its first loss of the season to UC Davis. The Bulldogs will return to the States and will kick off the Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic on Thursday in California.

🔼 Starting Off Strong. The Diamond Dawgs won their first series of the 2024 season on Sunday afternoon after defeating Air Force, 10-2. Bulldog fans came together to set the Opening Weekend attendance record with 33,942 faithful coming to The Dude over the three-game stretch. The Bulldogs used a five-run fifth inning to pull away from the Falcons and secure the lead for good. Hunter Hines capped off the weekend with a three-hit performance while three State players, including Connor Hujsak, finished the game with two RBIs. The pitching staff came away with 18 strikeouts in the final game as starter Jurrangelo Cijntje led the team with eight.

🔼 Sunday Split. Mississippi State dropped the first match of a doubleheader to Baylor 4-1 but bounced back to take the 4-1 win over Bellarmine to split the Sunday matches. Duo Alexandra Mikhailuk and Athina Pitta recorded two doubles wins on the day and a pair of singles wins to help propel the Bulldogs to victory in match two. State will hit the road for a twin bill in The Big Easy on Friday as the team takes on Tulane followed by a nightcap against New Orleans.

🔼 Working Overtime. State women's basketball fell in overtime, 75-71, at Ole Miss on Sunday to split the regular season series after taking one at home earlier this year. Senior guard Jerkaila Jordan finished with a team-high 18 points and six rebounds in 40 minutes, while forward Erynn Barnum turned in 16 points and six rebounds. The Bulldogs now stand at 20-7 overall and 7-5 in SEC play. Next up, the team will take on Kentucky inside The Hump on Thursday at 6:30 p.m.
