Good morning! Track and field season is in session and Roury McCloyen is moving on up the all-time lists. McCloyen shined at the Razorback Invitational over the weekend and put up the No. 3 all-time performance in school history with a throw of 18.61m in the shot put.

Dear Ol’ State: Tigers Tamed and Rebels Ahead. Mississippi State earned its second Top-10 win of the month on Saturday when the Bulldogs took down No. 8 Auburn. Now, a big matchup in Oxford against instate rival Ole Miss looms. On the latest episode, Joel Coleman and Logan Lowery discuss it all and bring you comments from players Tolu Smith, Josh Hubbard, Cameron Matthews and head coach Chris Jans.

📈 STOCK UP

🔼 Down Goes Another. Mississippi State rose to the occasion in front of a sellout crowd of 9,121 to knock off defending national champion and No. 9 LSU. Senior guard Jerkaila Jordan shined with her fourth 20-plus point game in SEC play, turning in a game-high 24 points on 9-17 from the field and 3-3 from behind the arc. Senior Darrione Rogers and freshman guard Mjracle Sheppard provided a spark off the bench with Rogers totaling 19 total points and Sheppard filling the stat sheet with 12 points, five assists, three rebounds and six steals.

The win gives the Bulldogs consecutive victories in conference play for the second time this season. Mississippi State improves to 17-5 overall and 4-3 in the SEC with a ton of momentum heading into their next contest on the road against Kentucky.

🔼 Super Bowl Bound. From StarkVegas to Las Vegas, two former Bulldog football players are headed to the Big Game after their championship win over the weekend. Chris Jones and Willie Gay Jr. are going to Super Bowl LVIII on Feb. 11 after a dominant defensive performance that saw the Kansas City Chiefs come out on top in their sixth consecutive conference championship appearance.

🔼 Junior Dawgs. The Diamond Dawgs found two of its players listed as top-100 juniors in college baseball by Perfect Game: Hunter Hines and Nate Dohm. Hines is listed as 47th best junior, coming off a powerful sophomore season where he led the team in home runs (22) and RBIs (61). He hit .297 and is the first player at MSU to hit 20 or more homers in a single season since Brent Rooker hit 23 during the 2017 season. Dohm came in at No. 89 after leading the team last season with six wins and had two saves. He limited opponents to hit .258 on the season and had 49 strikeouts to only issuing 12 walks.

🔼 That Makes Three. For the third time this season, Bulldog basketball’s Josh Hubbard came away with the SEC Freshman of the Week award following his standout performances against Florida and No. 8 Auburn. Hubbard averaged 21.5 points and three rebounds per game in the Bulldogs’ two wins last week. For the season, Hubbard has racked up 298 total points, the fifth-most for a freshman through 20 games in school history.
