Today, a new basketball feature on HailState+ and three Bulldogs are inducted receive great honor

Good morning! Bulldog football’s Tulu Griffin is getting another shot to showcase his skills after receiving an invitation to play in the East West Shrine Bowl, the longest-running college all-star football game in the nation.

The game, taking place in Frisco, Texas, features the best senior collegiate football players in the country as they get a chance to show out in front of top representatives from the NFL.

Dear Ol’ State: A Big Reveal for Jim Ellis. On the latest episode, Joel Coleman and Logan Lowery surprise the voice of the Diamond Dawgs, Jim Ellis, with the news that he's set to be inducted into the Ron Polk Ring of Honor. Plus, Ellis tells some stories from his historic career.

🔼 Ring of Honor. The sixth class of the Ron Polk Ring of Honor will see their plaques unveiled this spring when the trio of Bobby Reed, Jim Ellis and C.S. "Buddy" Myer are enshrined as the 2024 class. The induction ceremony is set for Saturday, April 6 as each of the three Bulldog baseball legends will enter the esteemed club.

🔼 Fab Freshmen. A pair of Bulldog football freshmen have been named to the SEC Coaches All-Freshman Team in a vote by the 14 head coaches in the conference. Defensive lineman Donterry Russell and quarterback Chris Parson both earned selections for their play on the field this season.

Russell concluded his redshirt freshman season with 19 total tackles, four tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks. Parson, in two games for the Bulldogs, completed 11 passes on the season with over 100 all-purpose yards.

🔼 Sights Set Ahead. After a strong start to the fall season, Bulldog men’s tennis can now look ahead following the release of the team’s 2024 spring schedule. Head coach Matt Roberts is heading into his 10th season with the team, and will look to repeat the success from this past year where State advanced to the Round of 16 in the NCAA Tournament.

The Bulldogs are slated to have 15 home matches this season including ITA Kickoff Weekend. The Kickoff will open the season on Jan. 27 while conference play will begin on March 8 against defending SEC champion, Georgia.

🔼 Forever Remembered. With heavy hearts we announce that Peggy Wehr, Bulldog women’s tennis first head coach, has passed on. The Mississippi State legend laid the foundation for the program when she started coaching in 1974. She will forever live in the hearts of Bulldog Nation.

🔼 Send Them to the Bowl. It’s that time of year again! The vote for the NFL’s Pro Bowl selections are here, and we want to see Mississippi State well represented. From Dak Prescott and Darius Slay to Jeffery Simmons and Montez Sweat, there are plenty of former State players to send to the Pro Bowl.
