🔼 Double Trouble. Both Jerkaila Jordan and Jessika Carter finished the night with double-doubles to lead the Bulldogs to an 89-77 win over Florida. Jordan put up 21 points and grabbed 12 rebounds while Carter came away with 20 points and 15 rebounds. With the win, Mississippi State improved to 16-5 overall and 3-3 in the SEC.

The road Dawgs captured its third conference win thanks to a 51 percent shooting performance while going 41 percent from beyond the arc. The Bulldogs came up big in the paint with 46 points compared to the Gators’ 28 points. Next up, State will be back in action as they host LSU on Monday, Jan. 29 at The Hump.

🔼 Here Come The Sophomores. The Diamond Dawgs will come into the season with three sophomores in the top 100 by Perfect Game. State is just one of 11 schools in the nation to have at least three players on the list. Dakota Jordan came in as the No. 9 sophomore on the list. Jordan is coming off a 2023 season that saw him earn Perfect Game Freshman All-American honors. Along with Jordan, Bradley Loftin (No. 46) and Jurrangelo Cijntje (No. 75) slotted in the top 100 sophomores for the Bulldogs.

🔼 State of the Big Men. Behind a pair of productive performances from the big-man duo of Tolu Smith III and Jimmy Bell Jr., the Bulldogs outrebounded Vanderbilt 45-33 and scored a total of 36 points in the paint. Smith notched his second double-double of the season with 25 points and a season-high 11 rebounds while Bell provided four points and seven boards off the bench. The two graduate centers complimenting each other was just what Mississippi State envisioned when they added Bell through the transfer portal.

🗣️ "I knew once Tolu got back that it would be no issue with [Bell]. He's all business. He's a great kid, and he gets it. He's going to have big games. We all know it, and he knows it. So, we're really glad he's with us." - Chris Jans
