🔼 Won and Oh. Thanks to a strong defensive effort from the Bulldogs in the first half, State men’s basketball picked up a season-opening win at the Barstool Sports Invitational for the second year in a row. Trey Fort balled out in his debut in the Maroon and White with a team-high 21 points, 14 of which came in the first half, on 50% shooting from three-point land. Center Jimmy Bell Jr. and Dashawn Davis also finished with double-digits in a game that was never close.

Rolling with momentum, the Dawgs will head back home for its home opener at The Hump against UT Martin this Saturday at 4 p.m.

🔼 World Stage. Bulldog women’s basketball assistant coach Murriel Page will join the Canadian Senior Women’s National Team coaching staff for the 2024 FIBA Women’s Pre-Olympic Qualifying Tournament later week. Earlier this year, Page helped Canada to a bronze medal finish at the AmeriCup, and will need to help coach her team into the top two in order to move on.

🔼 National Signing Day. It was a big day for all of Mississippi State Athletics as many programs welcomed new members to their teams. From softball to soccer to golf and basketball, many future Dawgs had their dreams realized and will be heading to StarkVegas soon.

Bulldog softball had a particularly successful day, finishing with the No. 15 recruiting class in the nation for 2024. The team added nine new members to the team, six of which were ranked in the Top 100 prospects by Extra Inning Softball.

The Soccer Dawgs also had a good day as the team prepares to host an NCAA Tournament match in Starkville. The team welcomed seven new Bulldogs into the family.

🔼 Bulldog Fight. After returning home after a long stretch on the road, the Bulldogs fell to South Carolina in a tightly contested match. The second set was won 30-28 after an intense back-and-forth, and the final set of the match ended in extras as well, 27-25. Karli Schmidt posted a team-high 11 kills on the match on a .300 hitting percentage while Rebecca Walk added another nine kills and three blocks on the night.
