🔼 Successful Start. On the opening night of the season, Bulldog women’s basketball powered its way to a 1-0 start behind three different State players recording double-doubles. Among the trio was Jerkaila Jordan who finished with a team-high 26 points and a career-high 13 rebounds. Jessika Carter and Erynn Barnum also jumped in on the action with a 10 point, 13 rebound game and 13 point, 11 rebound game, respectively. In her first action with Mississippi State, transfer Lauren Park-Lane recorded her 700th career assist, finishing with seven total on the night.

State never trailed in the game as 11 Bulldogs finished with at least two points on the night. Heading into the next game, State will square up against Southeastern Louisiana on Friday night at The Hump once again.

🔼 Another One. The Bulldog men’s basketball star has notched another preseason award after being named to the Naismith Trophy Watch List, an honor that goes to the nation’s top forward. Tolu Smith joins six other SEC basketball players on the list with the men’s hoops tipoff a little more than 24 hours away.

🔼 Built Different. State linebacker Nathaniel Watson was named a semifinalist for the Butkus Award, an honor given to the nation’s best backer, for the fourth time in program history. Through nine games this season, Watson has recorded 87 tackles, 10 tackles for a loss, and eight sacks. He currently ranks second in the SEC in total tackles and ninth in the nation in sacks.

🔼 Worth The Wait. For some, National Signing Day is a day where dreams become reality, but for others, it’s a day of stress and wondering if things will turn out alright. As for Bulldog softball players Salen Hawkins and Jadyn Burney, it was a mixture of the two where their patience ultimately paid off.

🔼 Postseason Soccer. For the second consecutive season, the Soccer Dawgs will serve as hosts in the NCAA Tournament. Following “Selection Monday”, the Bulldogs found out they would play in Starkville against Providence as a No. 6 seed in the tournament. The match against the Friars will kickoff on Nov. 11 at 1 p.m., so get your tickets and help pack the pitch!
