🔼 Semifinal Showdown. Appearing in the SEC Semifinals for the first time in program history, the Soccer Dawgs put up a great fight, but fell to Arkansas 2-0, ending their time in Pensacola Beach. Maggie Wadsworth put up three shots on goal for the Bulldogs but was unable to slot one past the goalkeeper. Hannah Johnson and Zoe Main also contributed shots towards goal but were unable to convert.

Now, the No. 18 ranked Bulldogs will turn their attention to the NCAA Selection Show on Nov. 6th to await their postseason placement.

🔼 Road Tests. This weekend, the Volleydawgs will end its four-match road trip with matchups against Missouri and Arkansas—Mississippi State will face Missouri on Friday night, followed by the No. 8 ranked Razorbacks on Sunday afternoon.

🗣️ "This is a tough weekend on the road but I think the Dawgs are ready to compete. I am proud of the work we have put in during the week to get ourselves prepared and ready for two very good opponents.” - Julie Darty Dennis

Heading into this weekend, the Bulldogs are 11-10 overall thanks in large part to Karli Schmidt and Sophie Agee combining for 430 kills this season. Lauren Myrick will look to keep the rallies going after tallying at least 10 digs in 19 matches this season.

🔼 Make It Snappy. State long snapper Hayes Hammond was announced as a nominee for the 2023 Burlsworth Trophy, an award that honors the most outstanding player who began their career as a walk-on.

Joining the team as a walk-on in 2020, Hammond has been the team’s long snapper since 2021—appearing in 33 of the Bulldogs’ 34 games. Before the start of this season, Hammond earned a scholarship and is on pace for his most snaps in a single season.

🔼 Moving On. After falling in the opening day of the ITA Fall National Championships, men’s tennis standout Petar Jovanovic claimed his highest-ranked win in his collegiate career in the consolation round of 16 in singles play. With the momentum he gained from his win, Jovanovic and doubles partner Benito Sanchez Martinez handed their opponents a loss to advance to the quarterfinals in the consolation bracket.

🔼 Career Day. With each of State’s men’s golfer finishing par or better for the second consecutive day, the Bulldogs wrapped up the Kapolei Invitational with a ninth place finish at 34-under par. Harrison Davis turned in a career-round in the final day of the tournament with a 6-under par performance, and sophomore Garrett Endicott was not far behind, finishing his round with a 5-under 67.

With the Bulldogs’ fall schedule now over, the team will await its next tournament on Feb. 19 when they head to Florida to the Watersound Invitational.
