🔼 Call The Dawgs. The Bulldogs will return home to Starkville with a win after a hard-fought 66-63 victory over Arkansas. A big reason for the victory was Jessika Carter’s 35th career double-double after she recorded 22 points, 19 rebounds and the game-sealing block with less than 10 seconds left in the game.

Senior guard Jerkaila Jordan added 17 points and three steals on the night, and Lauren Park-Lane became one of seven players in NCAA women’s basketball history to surpass 2,000 career points and 800 career assists with her team-high seven assists against the Hogs. State will now head back to Starkville to get ready to host in-state rival, Ole Miss, on Sunday at 4 p.m.

🔼 Freshman Phenom. No surprise here! After Josh Hubbard’s performance against No. 5 Tennessee, there was no doubt that the standout freshman was named the Texaco Star of the Game. Hubbard led the Bulldogs in points and made three-pointers during State’s top-five takedown.

🔼 Player’s Honor. Included in the first-ever NFLPA All-Pro Team was defensive tackle and former Bulldog, Chris Jones. As voted on exclusively by the NFL’s players, Jones found himself as one of 11 defensive players in the league to be named to the All-Pro First Team. With postseason action on the horizon for Jones and the Chiefs, No. 95 wrapped up the regular season having played in 16 games and recorded 30 total tackles and 10.5 sacks.

Top Five Topplers. Wednesday night’s signature win for Bulldog men’s basketball was one of the biggest victories in school history. The win marked the fifth straight year State has beaten a ranked SEC opponent, but it has been some time since the opponent had a ranking as high as the Volunteers did.
