📈 STOCK UP
🔼 Cause For Celebration. Bulldog women’s basketball head coach Sam Purcell earned the 50th win of his career when Mississippi State handled Mercer, 81-44, inside Humphrey Coliseum. Jerkaila Jordan posted the 12th double-double of her career with 15 points and 11 rebounds on 6-12 from the field while Debreasha Powe added 13 points on 5-7 from the field, going 3-5 from three. With the win, Mississippi State improves to 5-0 on the season and 22-1 in non-conference home games under Purcell.
🔼 Survive and Advance. The No. 1 doubles tandem in the nation will be moving on to the Round of 16 after a three-set thriller at the NCAA Individual Championships on Wednesday. The nation’s top-ranked pairing of Petar Jovanovic and Benito Sanchez Martinez fell behind after the first set, but settled in and secured a 6-2 victory in the second set before prevailing in a third set super tiebreaker to secure their third ranked win of the fall and the 15th of their All-American doubles career together.
🔼 Off The Field Success. Mississippi State soccer continues to set the standard for excellence, with five Bulldogs earning spots on the 2024-25 CSC Academic All-District Team. Maddy Anderson, Macey Hodge, Ilana Izquierdo, Zoe Main, and Aitana Martinez-Montoya were recognized for their remarkable achievements, balancing success on the field with exceptional academic performance.
🔼 Coming To An End. One last time in 2024, the cowbells will be ringing in Davis Wade Stadium this weekend as the Bulldogs host Missouri on Saturday to conclude the home slate. It will certainly be a special day for the seniors to play their final game on Scott Field. Albert Reese IV will surely have a memorable contest as well, as the junior offensive lineman puts on the Maroon and White for the first time since being named the recipient of this year's Kent Hull Trophy earlier this week.
🗣️ "He's a guy that has been incredibly steady and unselfish. He's the model of consistency, is hard on himself and has his best football ahead of him. I believe that, and what he is today and what he has a chance to be is pretty dang special. Proud of him for that and proud of exactly who he's been throughout this entire year." - Jeff Lebby, head coach
