🔼 National Praise. What a week it is for the Bulldog’s defensive anchor, Nathaniel Watson. After earning the SEC’s Co-Defensive Player of the Week, Watson was recognized on a national level after being named the Bednarik Award Player of the Week. Saturday’s game against Arkansas proved to be one of his best in his career, finishing with double-digit tackles and two sacks.

🔼 Up Top. After day two at The Ally, the Bulldogs sit in fourth place as a team, but one State golfer is standing out amongst the rest. Surapa Janthamunee currently sits in a tie for first place after carding a an impressive 1-over par under windy conditions and is 4-under for the tournament. State finished the day with two out of 10 student-athletes who finished 1-over par or better in round two with Jarutrawee Khotchagrai joining Janthamunee.

🔼 Terrific Trio. Three of State’s women’s basketball student-athletes were named to the 2024 Coaches Preseason All-SEC teams. Jessika Carter was the the only State player to earn first team honors while Erynn Barnum and JerKaila Jordan were both named to the second team. In total, three Bulldogs were featured in a pool of just 17 women’s basketball players chosen to represent the two teams.

🔼 Ultra Highlight. State volleyball has come up big in matches all season long, but arguably, no match was bigger than this year’s Magnolia State Showdown against Ole Miss. Relive the action from Sunday’s win with an extended cut of highlights from the match.

🤔 BULLDOG TRIVIA

Rare Company. Linebacker Nathaniel Watson came up big with his game against Arkansas, earning him SEC and national praise, but he isn’t the only Bulldog in program history to earn recognition from the Bednarik Award.

Only two Bulldogs have ever earned a Bednarik Award Player of the Week—do you know the other Bulldog that has earned the honors?
