🔼 Defensive Masterclass. For the second game in a row, Bulldog football came away with a victory, this time against the Arkansas Razorbacks.

The State defense locked down the Hogs’ offense, holding them to just three points and 200 yards on the day. With Will Rogers out for the day, backup QB Mike Wright filled in with 85 yards through the air, 60 on the ground and a touchdown pass that would eventually go down as the game-winner. Woody Marks hauled in the lone score of the day following an efficient nine-play, 69-yard drive.

The defense was the real star of the game as linebacker duo Jett Johnson and Nathaniel Watson showed out for 25 tackles on the day including two sacks from Watson. Turnovers were a big part of the win as Corey Ellington came up big with a forced fumble, and Shawn Preston Jr. impressed with his flashy interception. Next up, the Bulldogs will look to extend the win streak to three against Auburn on the road.

🔼 Dawg vs. Dawg. There was cause for celebration in Bulldog softball’s final action of the fall at the Fall World Series. In what head coach Samantha Ricketts called the “most competitive matchup in her five-year tenure,” Team Madi walked it off against Team Paige to claim the 2-1 victory for the program’s last action of the fall.

🔼 Upset Alert. The Soccer Dawgs picked up their fifth win of October after knocking off No. 16 Alabama and breaking their 28-game unbeaten home streak in the penultimate match of the regular season. After a scoreless first half, the Bulldogs’ offense exploded onto the scene in the second with two goals in the span of 11 minutes.

Forward Aitana Martinez-Montoya got the scoring going with a simple pass into the back of the net off a beautiful cross from Hannah Johnson. Then, in the 72nd minute, Maggie Wadsworth struck an outside-the-box screamer into the bottom right part of the goal for her fourth of the season.

🔼 Fall Ball. State baseball was back in action for an exhibition game against UAB on Saturday, and Amani Larry shined among a list of quality performances on the day. Larry finished with two hits including a home run and three RBIs. The pitching staff was solid as Colby Holcombe gave two scoreless innings and struck out three batters.

The exhibition marked the end of fall ball for the Diamond Dawgs with the team returning to action in the spring for the start of the 2024 season.

🔼 Magnolia Mash. In front of a season-high 1,091 Bulldog faithful, State volleyball came away with the win at the Magnolia State Showdown. After the Volleydawgs fell behind two sets to one, the team grinded out back-to-back wins in the fourth and fifth sets behind Sophie Agee’s 16 kills and four blocks. State held the advantage in kills, errors forced, hitting percentage and blocks — all huge factors in coming up with a victory.

🗣️ "Super proud of the resilience and composure from our team. There were a lot of people that stepped up in a lot of big moments. Everybody was composed, and it was so fun to watch how confident they were today." - head coach Julie Darty Dennis
