Good morning! Following an incredible 2-0 win over No. 18 Kentucky, Bulldog soccer received Team of the Week honors from NCAA Soccer, and rightfully so. The win was the second top-20 win in program history and the team’s third straight win in SEC play.

🔼 Two Five. For the first time since 2020, and the first time under the leadership of head coach Sam Purcell, Bulldog women’s basketball will head into the season No. 25 in the Associated Press Preseason Top 25 poll. Heading into the regular season, the team will return five players from last season with three impactful transfers joining the roster of already loaded talent.

🔼 Preseason Praise. After a vote by a select panel of both SEC and national media members, Bulldog women’s basketball forward Jessika Carter was named to the Preseason All-SEC Second Team. Carter is coming off a successful season where she averaged 14.8 points per game, and totaled 65 blocks and 42 assists.

🔼 High Honor. Add another Bulldog basketball student-athlete to the list of preseason praise received. State men’s basketball’s guard Tolu Smith was named to the All-SEC First Team, adding to his long list of accolades he has received so far this preseason.

🔼 Gave It All. The No. 68 ranked Petar Jovanovic finished his tournament as the runner-up after a hard-fought three-set battle in the ITA Southern Regional Singles Championship. In his past 21 matches, Jovanovic has come away with 16 wins, and with the finals appearance, earned a spot at the ITA Fall National Championships.

🔼 Three’s Company. For the third time this fall, Bulldog men’s golf finished inside the top three in a tournament. On the final round at the Fallen Oak Collegiate Invitational, State finished with a 1-over par round as a team to secure a third place team finish.

Josep Serra finished as the low Dawg of the tournament at 6-under par and tied for third place while Harrison Davis finished his three-day stretch at 3-over par. Next up, the Bulldogs will compete in their final tournament of the fall at the Kapolei Invitational in Honolulu, Hawaii starting on Oct. 31.
