🎙️ DEAR OL’ STATE
Dear Ol’ State: 125 Seasons Of Bulldog Football — Nick Fitzgerald. On Fridays this football season, Joel Coleman and Logan Lowery are celebrating 125 seasons of Mississippi State football by talking with several of the greats that have impacted Bulldog history. This week’s guest is one of the greatest running quarterbacks in not only MSU history, but the SEC as well — Nick Fitzgerald.
📈 STOCK UP
🔼 Double Digits. Make that 10 wins in a row for No. 3 Mississippi State women’s soccer, as the Bulldogs claimed the Magnolia Cup for the fifth-straight time in a 2-0 win over Ole Miss on Friday. Zoe Main provided all the offense necessary against the Rebels, scoring just over one minute into the contest and again in the 87th minute to seal the victory. The Bulldogs are now 13-1 on the season and 7-0 in SEC play.
🔼 Top-15 Task. Mississippi State football again put together a back-and-forth fight against a top-15 team on Saturday, but ultimately fell 34-24 to No. 14 Texas A&M at Wade Stadium. In his first start in Starkville, true freshman quarterback Michael Van Buren Jr. threw for 242 yards and three touchdowns for an offense that out-gained the Aggies. Isaac Smith led the Bulldogs on the defensive side, collecting 13 tackles from his safety position.
🔼 Deja Vu. For the second year in a row, both No. 12 Petar Jovanovic and No. 107 Benito Sanchez Martinez will represent Mississippi State men’s tennis at the NCAA Individual Championships after winning their semifinals matches at the ITA Southern Regional Championships on Sunday. The Mississippi State women’s team also competed, picking up nine total wins at its ITA Regional.
🔼 Tiger Fight. Mississippi State volleyball fell to Missouri in Columbia on Sunday, fending off a sweep with a third-set victory but ultimately falling in four sets. Kailin Newsome collected the eighth double-double of her season with a team-high in kills (15) and digs (15). Amina Shackelford hit a team-best .400 against the Tigers.
🔼 Room To Move. Mississippi State men’s golf sits in sixth place after two days at the Fallen Oak Collegiate Invitational at 5-over, three shots back of fifth-place Georgia and five shots back of fourth-place Illinois. Garrett Endicott is the low-man on the leaderboard for the Bulldogs, currently in a tie for 10th at 1-under through two rounds.
