🔼 Tipoff Time. With the 2024-25 college basketball season looming, Mississippi State men’s basketball headed down to the SEC Tipoff ‘25 event. The trio, comprised of head coach Chris Jans, forward Cameron Matthews and Preseason All-SEC selection Josh Hubbard headed over to Mountain Brook, Alabama, to meet with various media members and media outlets nationwide. As a program, State was listed among teams receiving votes in the Associated Press Top 25 preseason poll and was picked to finish 10th in the SEC Preseason media poll.

🔼 Lasting Legacy. Mississippi State great Steve Freeman will be inducted into the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame as part of the 2025 class. Freeman joins seven other inductees in the 2025 Hall of Fame Class, which will be celebrated and formally enshrined during the MS Sports Hall of Fame Induction Weekend on August 1-2, 2025. Freeman, one of the best Bulldog defensive backs in program history, was inducted into the Mississippi State Athletics Hall of Fame as part of the 2000 class. He led Mississippi State in interceptions in 1973 (5) and 1974 (4) and was also the team's leading punt returner in 1973.

🔼 Pedal To The Metal. The team that has earned its reputation this season with physical and gritty defense switched up its style over the weekend with an onslaught of goals, resulting in five different players scoring goals against Missouri. State's offensive attack led to the program's most goals scored against a conference opponent since State scored five goals against Alabama in 2018. Scoring individual goals aids the efforts tremendously but remaining headstrong and connected as one is of the utmost importance when competing against SEC competition.

🗣️ "This team is not trying to get the individual flare. At the end of the day, [playing as a unit] gets you a 5-0 win. It's a testament to the work everyone's been putting in." - Hannah Johnson, senior midfielder/forward

🔼 Seeking Success. Bulldog men’s tennis will look to open the ITA Southern Regional Championships later today. MSU has experienced recent success at the ITA Southern Regionals, which include seeing Bulldogs reach the singles finals with Nemanja Malesevic representing State in 2022 and Petar Jovanovic repeating that feat last fall, which qualified both for the ITA Fall National Championships. State is sending eight Bulldogs to compete at the tournament starting with sophomore Marshall Landry beginning the opening round of singles qualifying

🎉 TRIVIA ANSWER

Answer: New England Patriots!

Following the 1975 NFL Draft, where the New England Patriots selected Freeman, he was cut after two preseason games.

Freeman was quickly claimed off waivers by the Buffalo Bills, becoming one of the Bills' greatest waiver acquisitions in franchise history. He played 12 seasons for the Bills, compiling 23 career interceptions and three touchdowns. From 1975 until late in the 1984 season, Freeman played in 150 consecutive games, setting a new Buffalo Bills record.
